The Little Hawaii Falls is one of the easiest waterfall hikes in Hong Kong. The waterfall is accessible along the Little Hawaii Trail, which runs between Tseng Lan Shue and Tseung Kwan O Village in the New Territories.
Although the main waterfall isn’t really visible from the ground, the stream and rapids can be accessed from two levels along the Little Hawaii Trail. The ease of the trail also means that it gets quite crowded with families with kids, especially on the weekends.

How to get to Little Hawaii Trail
To get to the starting point for Little Hawaii Trail, make your way to the Tseng Lan Shue bus stop on Clear Water Bay Road.
Once you arrive at the bus stop, trace your steps to the entrance of Wilson Trail Section 3. The entrance is located on the side of the road going towards Diamond Hill/Choi Hung.

The initial section of the trail is flat, paved, and super easy to walk along. Continue along Wilson Trail for about 550 metres till you reach a fork in the road. At the fork, where there is a sign for Little Hawaii Trail, turn left.

The trail gets a bit more rustic along this part as it runs alongside Razor Hill. It suddenly feels like you’ve left civilization behind. The trail from this point on, till the end, becomes a gradual walk downhill.

Fortunately, you don’t have to walk too far as the Little Hawaii Falls are just another 450 metres ahead. All in all, it takes about 10–15 minutes to get to Little Hawaii Falls from the starting point.

Maybe it was the crowd or the fact that the rapids felt insipid, but I wasn’t truly impressed at this point. Hong Kong has some beautiful waterfalls, such as Ng Tung Chai and Bride’s Pool. Nonetheless, we did sit beside the falls and appreciate how easy they were to access.
If you walk downstream from the falls, there are a few benches with tables. However, if you’re looking for the best place to shoot that perfect photo for your Instagram, then let me give you a little hint.
From the bridge on top of the stream, walk down towards the cliff with the rocks. It’s a bit tricky but manageable. From this cliff, you get the best shot of the stream and Po Lam behind you!

Unfortunately, the line was so long when we were there, that we decided to skip the shot for our Instagram. Instead, I can show you what it looks like from the other side.

Lin Yuen Terrace Falls
As I said, there are two levels from where you can admire the Little Hawaii Falls. The second, lower level is the Lin Yuen Terrace Falls.
From the same bridge, continue walking downhill along Little Hawaii Trail. After about 7–8 minutes you’ll arrive at a four-way intersection. Turn right, and continue walking for about another 4–5 minutes till you arrive at Lin Yuen Terrace Falls.

- Follow this path for a few minutes
Personally, I felt these rapids were far more impressive than what we’d seen above. From here, you can also walk upstream slightly and get close to the massive waterfall from the cliff above.

It’s a bit unfortunate that it’s not completely possible to see the beauty of Little Hawaii Falls from the ground, but thankfully I was able to capture it from a bird’s eye view.

To finish the trail, trace your steps back to the four-way intersection, and turn right to continue along Little Hawaii Trail.

The steps will take you down to Tsuen Kwan O Village. Once you arrive in the village, navigate your way towards Po Lam MTR Station.

Great description. Just a thought. Might want to say the start is on the side of the road going to Diamond Hill/ Choi Hung. Or across the road going to Clear Water Bay.

I’m brand new to hiking but really want to try this tail. It seems easy and enjoyable. I can walk for hours on flat/semi-flat grounds and even climb a few stairs. Would you recommend this for someone like me? Out of shape and new to hiking. Thank you!
