During our 3-day stay in Menorca we made sure that we only ate at the most highly recommended restaurants in Ciutadella and Mahon. Although I want to take credit for this blog, but it wouldn’t have been possible without all the awesome tips we got from locals.

From the 6 major meals we ate at Menorca, I narrowed it down to our top 3. So, among all the restaurants that we dined at in Menorca these are my favourite, and of course the ones that I would highly recommend.

Best Restaurants in Ciutadella, Menorca

1. Cafe Balear

Cafe Balear came highly recommended from many sources, so we were super ear to try it. Unfortunately, it was closed on our first day in Ciutadella, so we patiently had to wait till the next day.

Are you walking around the Ciutadella harbour admiring all the cafés and restaurants? Can’t decide which one to go to? Well then, look no further than Cafe Balear. Funnily, as it is the last restaurant on the Ciutadella harbour, it can be a bit difficult to spot. But once there, I recommend the outdoor seating next to the canal.

What to order?

The onion lobster at Cafe Balear, Ciutadella, Menorca

The seafood and tapas are exceptional, but the restaurant is known for its lobster with onion. The dish is nothing short of divine! I highly recommend it.

This meaty lobster dish is loaded with a preparation of onions soaked in butter. Just writing about it makes me salivate!

2. Pins 46

Owned and operated by the same Cafe Balear Grup, Pins 46 offers the same high quality seafood in a different atmosphere. Located in the main square in Ciutadella, Plaza dels Pins, Pins 46 in its colonial avatar is difficult to miss. The outdoor seating makes you feel that you’re a part of the main square, immersed among its attractions. The seating indoors reminded me of an old colonial mansion.

What to order?

While you’re here, you don’t want to miss their grilled prawns, Gambas de Ciutadella a la Plancha. It was probably the best tapas we are during our stay in Menorca.

3. Bar Imperi (popular for breakfast)

Here’s a bonus recommendation for breakfast. Bar Imperi is antique looking bar located in the heart of Ciutadella, that is famous for its “sobrasada” sandwich. It is a regular haunt for many locals, especially during breakfast.

The sandwiches and coffees are cheap and delicious. And instead of sitting outdoors, grab a table inside.

4. Restaurant Ses Forquilles

Although we were only in Mahon for a day, we made it our mission to eat only the best that the town had to offer. In this respect we found that Ses Forquilles exceeded our expectations.
