Tong Fuk is an amazing, chilled-out village to spend a day on Lantau Island. You could relax on the beach, and visit one of the best restaurants in Hong Kong. Or spend a weekend in a caravan or holiday home!

Things To Do In Tong Fuk
There are plenty of things to discover and try for first-timers, or even if you’ve been here before.
Chill At The Beach
The Tong Fuk Beach is relatively clean and empty. Most of the crowds flock to either Pui O or Cheung Sha beaches as they’re slightly closer to the ferry pier. But honestly, we much preferred this beach with its empty shores and wide-open spaces.
And like its neighbouring beaches, Tong Fuk Beach is also set against the backdrop of beautiful, lush green mountains.
We sat in a secluded corner of the beach all afternoon long. It was honestly very zen.
Dine At “The Gallery”
I’m going to let you in on a little secret. Tong Fuk probably has one of the best restaurants that I’ve ever eaten at in Hong Kong (outside the main city). The Gallery, located on the main South Lantau Road, serves some of the most delicious food in the entire city. We can guarantee that if this restaurant was located in the city, they’d never be any table available.
Along with the food, the outdoor-seating ambience is just so relaxing. Just kick back with a beer, while your steak cooks on the grill beside you.
We tried the 30-day aged steak and the beef kofta. Both dishes were divine! We’re definitely going back to try their other recommended dishes, like the spicy beef pizza. And FYI, they also make their own hot sauce!
Plan A Staycation
Many people also visit Tong Fuk to spend their weekend, a staycation if you will, either in a caravan or hotel. Unfortunately, there is only one staycation option available in Tong Fuk now.
The Cove
The Cove is a fantastic staycation option in Tong Fuk. And from their reviews, it seems like people enjoy the accommodation.
Over the years, The Cove has expanded from a single hostel building to four buildings, of which three are in Tong Fuk!
- The Cove Hostel – Tong Fuk Dolphin
- The Cove Hostel – Tong Fuk Sea Lion
- The Cove Hostel – Tong Fuk Octopus
All three hostel buildings are within the village.
If you happen to spend your weekend here, don’t forget to check out Tai O fishing village.
